Stillwater Foundation Assets Exceed $2.7 Million
Stillwater Charities Received Over $1.7 Million In Gran
The assets of Stillwater's top foundation grew to $2,738,584 for the most recent year on record, according to the recently released Oklahoma Foundation DataBook, 2nd Ed. The 432-page DataBook lists every foundation in Oklahoma and profiles the top 214 Oklahoma grantmaking foundations, whose assets represent more than 99% of all Oklahoma foundation assets. The DataBook is the only directory in Oklahoma that lists every one of the 7,710 grants awarded by the state's largest foundations.

There is 1 Stillwater foundation profiled in the DataBook. The combined total of the grants awarded by Stillwater foundations was $96,000.

Stillwater nonprofit organizations received 96 grants with a combined total of $1,722,191. The average grant to Stillwater nonprofit organizations was $17,939.

Each of the 7,710 grants made by the profiled foundations is described using the 26 Major Field Areas of the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) classification system, developed specifically to categorize nonprofit organizations. The top categories of foundation grants in Stillwater were: 86 grants classified as Education, with a sub-total of $1,595,703; 4 grants classified as Religion, spiritual development, with a sub-total of $115,400; 2 grants classified as Arts, culture, humanities, with a subtotal of $5,712.

Stillwater's largest foundation is the Faye Allene Rife Brown Foundation, whose assets of $2,738,584 give it a state-wide ranking of 101, as compared to the other 213 foundations profiled. The largest Stillwater grant, made by Jess L. & Miriam B. Stevens Foundation, was to Oklahoma State University in the amount of $150,000. The purpose was: Establish endowed chair in Agri Biotechnology.

The combined asset amount of Oklahoma's top 214 foundations is $4,214,000,218. The foundations profiled in the DataBook are identified by careful cross checking of IRS and state public records (starting with the IRS 990 tax returns foundations are required to file), culling out dedicated purpose foundations or foundations which award scholarships exclusively.
