Ardmore Foundation Assets Exceed $1 Billion
Ardmore Charities Receive More Than $5 Million In Grants
The assets of Ardmore's top foundations grew to $1,043,601,318 for the most recent year on record, according to the recently released Oklahoma Foundation DataBook, 2nd Ed. The 432-page DataBook lists every foundation in Oklahoma and profiles the top 214 Oklahoma grantmaking foundations, whose assets represent more than 99% of all Oklahoma foundation assets. The DataBook is the only directory in Oklahoma that lists every one of the 7,710 grants awarded by the state's largest foundations.

There are 7 Ardmore foundations profiled in the DataBook. The combined total of the grants awarded by Ardmore foundations was $9,100,783.

Ardmore nonprofit organizations received 102 grants with a combined total of $5,689,976. The average grant to Ardmore nonprofit organizations was $55,784.

Each of the 7,710 grants made by the profiled foundations is described using the 26 Major Field Areas of the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) classification system, developed specifically to categorize nonprofit organizations. The top categories of foundation grants in Ardmore were: 9 grants classified as Health, general, rehabilitative, with a sub-total of $2,226,659; 36 grants classified as Education, with a sub-total of $1,898,557; 20 grants classified as Human services-other, multi-purpose, with a sub-total of $367,131.

Ardmore's largest foundation is the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, whose assets of $923,725,497 give it a state-wide ranking of 1, as compared to the other 213 foundations profiled. The largest Ardmore grant, made by Margaret S. Weeks & Marie S. Smith Trust, was to Cross Timbers Hospice in the amount of $1,014,907. The purpose was: Operations.

The combined asset amount of Oklahoma's top 214 foundations is $4,214,000,218. The foundations profiled in the DataBook are identified by careful cross checking of IRS and state public records (starting with the IRS 990 tax returns foundations are required to file), culling out dedicated purpose foundations or foundations which award scholarships exclusively.
