Fremont Foundation Assets Exceed $27 Million
Fremont Charities Received More Than $830,000 In Grants
The assets of Fremont's top foundations grew to $27,440,418 for the most recent year on record, according to the recently released Nebraska Foundation DataBook, 3rd Ed.

The 528-page DataBook lists every foundation in Nebraska and profiles the top 290 Nebraska grantmaking foundations, whose assets represent more than 99% of all Nebraska foundation assets. The DataBook is the only directory in Nebraska that lists every one of the 8,677 grants awarded by the state's largest foundations.

There are 5 Fremont foundations profiled in the DataBook. The combined total of the grants awarded by Fremont foundations was $1,476,343. Fremont nonprofit organizations received 109 grants with a combined total of $836,518. The average grant to Fremont nonprofit organizations was $7,674.

Each of the 8,677 grants made by the profiled foundations is described using the 26 Major Field Areas of the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) classification system, developed specifically to categorize nonprofit organizations. The top categories of foundation grants in Fremont were: 5 grants classified as Philanthropy & volunteerism, with a sub-total of $214,626; 16 grants classified as Education, with a sub-total of $142,701; 7 grants classified as Health, general, rehabilitative, with a subtotal of $123,379.

Fremont's largest foundation is the Rupert Dunklau Foundation, whose assets of $12,832,022 give it a state-wide ranking of 34, as compared to the other 289 foundations profiled. The largest Fremont grant, made by Fremont Area Community Foundation, was to Fremont Area Community Foundation in the amount of $100,000. The purpose was: Hazel R. Keene Donor-Advised Fund.

The combined asset amount of Nebraska's top 290 foundations is $1,775,506,963. The foundations profiled in the DataBook are identified by careful cross checking of IRS and state public records (starting with the IRS 990 tax returns foundations are required to file).
